We’re excited to share that PADI has published a feature article about Max Rota and our work at Natural Art Reef – bringing global attention to our efforts in restoring marine ecosystems with sustainable, nature-inspired artificial reef structures.
The post, titled “Max Rota: Restoring the Ocean with Natural Art Reef Structures,” highlights the story behind El Biotop, the Mediterranean’s largest rocky artificial reef, and the passion that drives our mission. It’s a story of family legacy, marine protection, and how underwater landscapes can come back to life when we work with nature.
🐠 «We’re not just building reefs. We’re building hope.»
With materials shaped by hand and placed with purpose, every NAR reef becomes a safe for over 300 Mediterranean marine species, from colorful corals and schools of fish to majestic sunfish (Mola mola) that return to El Biotop as a cleaning station.
Through citizen science programs, M. Rota Diving and NAR are also educating divers on how to collect ecological data, monitor marine life, and even take part in restoration efforts to help tackle threats to coral reefs.
